
Ivan Smiljanić
Institute of Contemporary History
Ivan Smiljanić studied history and Russian language at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana where he graduated in 2016. He received a master's degree in history in 2019 and was awarded the Dean's Award for his master's thesis. He researches public monuments, public memory and cultural history. His findings were published in several Slovene history journals. Since 2019, he has been working as a young researcher at the Institute of Contemporary History in Ljubljana, researching bankruptcies in Slovenia before 1941. In 2020, he co-wrote the award-winning comic book Black Flame: The Arson of the National Hall in Trieste.
